The nice folks at Common Craft have produced another great video to explain a sometimes confusing concept in very plain English. In this video Common Craft explains in plain English how the United States elects a president. This short video will be used in my classroom this fall as I introduce my US History and Civics students to the Electoral College.

I love the video. My only problem is that Kentucky, one of the states used as an example, has 8-not 9-electors as of the 2000 census. I haven't on checked the others.
Thanks, good information !!
Who ever controls technology,

Thanks....... that really helped on the test for my home school. Unfortunately, you didn't explain why all that doesn't apply to Connecticut
and Maine. I watched it like 2 times and still, i didn't know what it meant.
Maybe you can e-mail me and explain it. My e-mail adress is: pigglywigglycox@gmail.com
By the way.. check out my blog at: peacefrog4life.blogspot.com My sister's is moving: her's is babydellinger.blogspot.com

Just as a note of clarification. Maine and Nebraska are slightly different from the rest of the country. In Maine and Nebraska the Electoral votes can be divided along representative districts. The winner-take-all concept doesn't always apply in Maine and Nebraska.
