Same Content, Different Presentation

Here's a fun video of a Southwest Airlines flight attendant giving the pre-flight instructions to passengers. This is not the standard, boring reading of instructions, it's entertaining and the flight attendant still delivers the same message as you would get from someone reading off a card. The video made me wonder, how many of our students would be more engaged in school if they could choose the method in which they demonstrate understanding of content.

An interesting thought, i think it comes down to your personality in the classroom and how you personalise your learning.

It's right that teachers now have to be these superstar entertainers as well as teachers.

I LOVE the idea, but wether a white guy in a classroom could pull it off is another matter?

Having just attended a woeful IWB professional development session I fully agree that the delivery or presentation makes a huge difference to the way a message is received & processed.

This was wonderful. For one option to projects, I let my special ed students who like to rap, make up a rap with the facts of a unit and share it with the class. They love to make one up and my class loves to hear it. In fact, some of them learn it in order to use the info on a test. This reminds me of those school house rock songs that used to help students remember things.

Southwest should give this flight attendant a raise for giving them such a huge advertisement boost
