Create an Online Quiz Using Google Forms

In keeping with the spirit of how-to week, I am sharing with you a useful video that I learned about through Miguel Guhlin's excellent blog. In the video below, produced by Classroom Next, you can learn how to use Google Docs/ Forms to create an online quiz.

Applications for Education
Placing an online quiz created using Google Forms in your classroom blog or website could be an excellent way to assess your students understanding of the basics of a topic.

I have been doing quite a lot of this and I find it seamless until it comes time to return the work to students with comments. The best way to do it (as far as I have found) is to used Jing to make an image of the individual student's responses as they appear in the database. I then paste the image into an e-mail and type a few comments.

This is very cool. However, if you want more functionality - like being able to put the form on your blog/website, then check out BestContactForm.com. The form editor is a little more robust, but the cool thing is that the form submittals will be delivered right to your email. Now you don't have to give you students access to your Google account and you can respond to the student directly form your email.
When you get to BestContactForm.com, before signing up, contact them through their contact form to let them know you're a teacher. They will respond to you with a special code to use during the sign up process to give you an account with more than enough monthly submittals at around $3 a month!
