An Inside Look at H1N1 Vaccine Production

On Sunday, 60 Minutes ran a fairly in-depth story about H1N1 vaccine production, distribution, and safety. You can watch the entire story (embedded below) or segments of the story here. CBS News has a few companion resources linked to the story and video on their website. One of the companion resources is a parents' guide to prevention of H1N1 contraction and what to do if you suspect that your child has H1N1.

Very interesting clip. The vaccine has stirred plenty of controversy. I got the vibe from CBS that they were trying to make it sound like it is ok, and people are just over worrying. As far as I am concerned, the vaccine is too new and the long term side effects have yet to be determined.
At the end, the guy said that no serious inncidents have occured yet, and that they are searching hard to see if they hear of any. Just about 2 weeks ago, a Washington Redskins cheerleader had some neurological reaction to the shot, and is now dying.

To me its scary that it is getting pushed on pregnant woman and children and it suppposedly contains thimerosal. I dont know much about thimerosal, but I have read that it has an adverse effect on your immune system and nervous system.
I am curious to see what will come of this vaccine and disease in the up coming years.
