Feed Chronicle - Make Your Own News Page

This is service is no longer working. March 2013.

Feed Chronicle is a new RSS aggregation service designed to be used as an online newspaper. Feed Chronicle allows you to select from a large list of popular feeds to include in your online newspaper. All of the most recent updates from your chosen feeds appear on one page. Feed Chronicle is similar to the services Tabbloid and Feed Journal that I've previously reviewed.

Applications for EducationFeed Chronicle could make a good start page for students in world studies course or in any social studies or business course that makes frequent use of current news stories.

Two Quick Reminders to Start the New Year

1. The Brainy Flix vocabulary contest started yesterday and runs through February 29. Creating videos for the contest could be a fun way for students to learn vocabulary words. You can read more about the contest here.

2. As Robert Scoble just reminded me, the beginning of the year is a good time to make sure you have backed up all of your important documents and data.

Gaza Strip Maps and Articles

When I taught a contemporary world studies course for high school freshmen, the Israeli - Palestinian conflicts was one of more difficult topics for students to understand. One of the things that did help my students to understand the conflict was to have a geographic context of the conflicts. Here are a few resources that might help students understand the current fighting in the Gaza Strip.

The Google Earth Blog has posted a KML file that overlays a UN situation map over the Gaza Strip. You can access the file here.

The BBC has posted a number of good resources that are accessible to high school students. One of the better resources is a map that is connected to a timeline of the current fighting in the Gaza Strip. You can find that map here.

The NY Times has posted maps, articles, and mp3 recordings about the current fighting in the Gaza Strip. You can access those resources here and here.
