Many teachers hear "Google Earth" and think it's only something that social studies teachers can use. But, in fact Google Earth can be used across the curriculum. I put together this quick-start guide to introduce teachers to the basics of using Google Earth across the curriculum. This is part of a much larger document that I am developing.
View the guide in Yudu magazine form.

Update: The first time I uploaded to DocStoc it got marked as Copyright and was blocking downloads. I've fixed that problem. It should be okay to download now. My mistake, I apologize for any frustration I may have caused.
For easy download of Google Earth Across the Curriculum try the DocStoc version.

Update #2: I've had a couple of people ask and I'm sure that more people will want to know too if they can embed the document into their school and personal blogs/ websites/ wikis. Yes, go ahead and do that. All I ask is that you don't strip my name or any of my links from the document.

Sorry how I came across in first comment. I was frustrated both by wanting to read the pdf and not being able to, and by a pet peeve of mine - obfuscating highly accessible and open formats behind proprietary delivery/technology. But I see from reading my own comment I came at it pretty poorly.
DocStoc I am familiar with and I clicked the orange button only to be informed that "This document cannot be downloaded due to copyright protection" probably this was an issue at the creation of the PDF, or for the options in uploading it to DocStoc as I have downloaded PDF's from them before. I must admit though, I am not a fan of DocStock for this type of distribution. Gimme a direct link to the PDF any day.
Yudu, yep, download does work (odd duck sticking it under options), but on downlaoding it, it's a mess of .exe and associated cruft that adds up to a pretty large download for what looks like a rather nice PDF. Sorry but I don't want to download another application just to view a pdf, especially when I have a very good pdf viewer on my system already.
PDF is not the end all be all but for document sharing it is an accessible and widely available format, with builtin or free readers available for every platform that I know. Wrapping a PDF in another proprietary format, especially one that requires another app to open is, in my opinion, making it less accessible.
Again though sorry for the first comment.
Such a valuable resource for teachers - thanks so much for sharing it.
Thanks Richard, been meaning to promote Google Earth across the school and this will make the job easier!
err actually no. When you click the big orange button on DocStor it pops up saying "cannot be downloaded due to copyright....."
DocStoc is giving me a copyright warning and won't allow download.. BTW the doc looks really useful. And I'm all for experimenting with different routes for publishing.
Eric, I understand your frustration. Some people do like PDF downloads. Based on the number of people I've had download and print my previous similar works I thought it was a good idea to use Yudu and DocStoc again.
David & Rob, the problem with the download on DocStoc has been fixed.
Daniel & Sagittarian, thnak you for the kind comments.
Brilliant. Thanks!
This is a great resource! In my district we're just beginning to look at how we can use GoogleEarth within the curriculum at the elementary level, beyond the basics of map and view.
Many thanks - passing this to my Geography/History teachers and also using it myself in English!
Great Guide .. thanks ...

Thanks for the information that was given in your blog! It was very helpful and informative to me as I become a first year teacher in the area of science. I never thought of Google Earth being that effective in the area of science.
I clicked on your link to get to the download and it said it was copyright protected and couldn't download. I see from your comments that you fixed this problem, but I'm still having it! Suggestions? The material looks great. Thanks, Jerrilyn
Jerrilyn,
You should be able to download it here
