140 New Things Being Tried In Classrooms This Fall

Last Thursday I posted a survey and asked readers to share the new things they're trying in their classrooms this fall. In 72 hours there were 140 genuine responses (I filtered out the spam submissions). To make the survey results a little easier to read than a spreadsheet, I created a Google Presentation of the results. I linked to those people who submitted their Twitter IDs or blog URLs. Thank you to everyone that took the time to write a submission. If you have ideas to add to the list, please leave a comment.

As for myself, this year I plan to try using mobile apps more effectively in my classroom. In particular, I'm excited to use Google's Android App developer.

This is a great start, but trying new tools is not enough. We must be planning out what data we'll collect to know if these tools enhanced student learning. I actually blogged a response to this post: http://mrpullen.wordpress.com/2010/08/23/new-eye-catching-and-completely-unproven/

School-wide - planning to use Edmodo for a professional development initiative ... adult learning

School-wide - created a Twitter account, using Social oomph for planned tweets; created a Facebook Page for communication/posts too

Blogging - still getting my "feet" wet with blogging, looking for feedback, input - etc.

Wiki - using a Wiki for professional evaluation (my own) like an e-portfolio - on going; may use Rypple too.

Parents love it.
