Visuwords - Online Graphical Dictionary

Visuwords uses a web design to show users the definitions of words and the connections between words. To use Visuwords just type a word into the search box and Visuwords will generate a web of related words. Place your cursor over any of the words and the definition appears. Use the color-coded key to understand the connections between the words in any web. Below is the web based on the word "geography."

Applications for Education
Visuwords could be a good free alternative to Visual Thesaurus. Visuwords gives students an easy-to-use tool for exploring definitions and alternative word choices.

Mythbuster Adam Savage's Colossal Failures is an excellent alternative to YouTube for videos of educational value., like TED, features videos of talks and presentations from intelligent and notable people from a variety of fields.

This morning I watched a good talk given by Adam Savage. Adam Savage is one of the hosts of the popular Discovery series Mythbusters. In this talk Mr. Savage discusses the lessons learned from being a freelancer and the lessons learned from producing Mythbusters. The talk is embedded below.

Applications for Education
This is a long talk with many segments in it that may be worth showing to high school students. If you watch the video on you can view it broken into segments which makes it easier to narrow in on the specific parts you want to show to students.
