Make and Print a Simple Flip Book

Read Write Think provides teachers, particularly reading and writing teachers, with a wealth of information and teaching resources. One neat resource of theirs that I recently learned about through Doug Peterson is their flip book maker. Read Write Think's flip book maker provides a template for students to use to create and print a ten page flip book. Students can use the flip book maker to design pages that contain various combinations of text and images. The flip book maker provides drawing tools that students can use to create original drawings to illustrate their stories.

Applications for Education
Read Write Think's flip book maker is a nice little tool that elementary school students could use to create short fairy tales and other fiction stories to print and share with their parents.

Google for Teachers II - Free 33 Page Guide

Back in March I published Google for Teachers. Since then it has been viewed more than 50,000 times. As much as that guide had in it, it didn't cover everything that Google offers to teachers. Therefore, I am releasing Google for Teachers II. This guide is designed to introduce and walk teachers through using Google Sites, Google Custom Search, Google Alerts, Google Bookmarks, Google Groups, and Google Calendar.

As always, this guide can be downloaded for free through DocStoc as well as through Yudu. To download it you do have to register with those services. I apologize for the inconvenience that might cause some of you, but it's the best way for me to track how many times it gets downloaded.

The categories include mathematics, logic, lateral thinking, and physics. All submissions are ranked as either fairly easy, moderate, or challenging.

Applications for Education
Mind Chiper could be a great resource to consult during those times when you have a few minutes of "down-time" with your students. Bring up one of the Mind Cipher puzzles to keep them engaged in thinking even if they're not thinking specifically about your content area.
