Mapeas - World News on a Map

Mapeas is a new service for geographically exploring the news. Mapeas places sports, entertainment, business, science, and general news stories on a map. Click any circle on the map to zoom-in on a location and select a story. Stories are provided by ABC, NBC, Fox, the Associated Press, and AFP. Stories are linked to articles for further reading and or to videos.

Thanks to Larry Ferlazzo for the link.

Applications for Education
Mapeas could be a great resource for anyone that requires students to read global news stories. Students can locate stories by location which provides a geographic context for the stories they read.

Type It - Type Accents On Any Keyboard

Type It is a free online program for typing accent marks and other special characters that are often required for languages other than English. Type It supports twenty-one languages and currency symbols. You can insert accents and characters by selecting them from the menu provided by Type It or by using their suggested keyboard shortcuts.

Applications for Education
Type It is not a full-fledged word processor rather it simply provides a way to write text that you then copy into a document. Therefore, its probably best suited to use for correctly typing a person's name or typing short phrases that you will paste into another document. Type It could be used to correctly type parents' names for letters home.
