Update May 2016 - Go Go News has gone offline.
Go Go News is a news website designed for elementary school students. The site features many short news stories that can be read and listened to. The stories that Go Go News covers aren't hard, breaking news stories. The stories are more of a interesting and educational nature. Two of the leading stories on Go Go News right now are a story about the discovery of seventeen new pyramids in Egypt and a story about farming in the Amazon.

Applications for Education
Go Go News makes learning about current events around the world accessible to students of all ages and reading abilities. Although it is not available yet, Go Go News does promise to have a teacher page set up and hopefully it will have some useful things for teachers in the near future.

Study Jams - Tunes for Studying
Study Jams is a Scholastic website designed to help elementary school students learn and review math and science information through songs and videos. To use Study Jams students search for a topic in the math or science category. Each Study Jam offers a short tutorial on that topic in the form of a video, slideshow, or song. When there is a song available Study Jams provides a karaoke format for kids to sing along if they like.
Applications for Education
Study Jams could be an engaging way for students to independently review topics or learn about new topics. To extend the activity you could challenge students to write an additional verse for one of the karaoke tunes. Or challenge them to create their own Study Jam when one doesn't exist for a topic they're studying.
