A Collection of the Best Google Maps Street View Imagery

Google Maps Street View imagery provides a good way to show students the world without leaving your classroom. Over the last few years Google has added Street View imagery of many notable culturally significant places throughout the world. Street View Special Collections allows you to find that imagery in one place.

Applications for Education
Browsing Google Maps Street View imagery is one of my favorite ways for students to virtually explore the world. Browsing Street View imagery provides a prospective that that they generally can't get by flipping through printed images or looking at flat maps.

Reminder - If It Doesn't Look Legit, Quit

This evening Peter Vogel shared a screenshot of a phishing attempt that he had received in the form of an email attempting to look like a Google Documents shared document. If you receive one like the one that Peter shared, don't complete the request for information. This is a good time to remind your friends, students, and colleagues that may be new to using Google Drive that if something doesn't look right, it probably isn't it.

A YouTube-free Video Search Engine

Yesterday, I shared a list of 43 educational alternatives to YouTube. At the suggestion of quite a few people, I put all of those sites into a custom search engine and I have embedded it into this page. Give it a try the next time that you're looking for educational videos that are not hosted on YouTube.

Take a look at the Google Slides presentation below to learn how to create your own custom search engine.
