How to Collaboratively Create Presentations With Canva

Regular readers of my blog probably know that I'm a big fan of Canva. I use it almost daily for making everything from YouTube thumbnails and presentations. And over the years I've used for making timelines, simple websites, comic strips, certificates, and lots more. In that time I've also seen Canva add new features on regular basis including an improved collaboration option. While it once was fairly clunky, the collaboration option is now as seamless and real-time as working on a Google Document.

If you haven't tried using the collaboration option in Canva, watch my short video below to see how it works. The video includes the perspective of the original creator of a presentation and the perspective of a person who has been invited to collaborate on the presentation.

Applications for Education
Canva's presentation design templates are far superior to the default options found in Google Slides and PowerPoint. And with the option for students to remotely collaborate while using those templates, Canva offers a great way for students working in groups to make outstanding slideshow presentations. And if they're not going to give a presentation in class, they can still use Canva's collaborative presentation tools to design and publish audio slideshow videos

How to Quickly Create Audio Slideshow Videos

This afternoon I answered a question from a school principal who was looking for an efficient way to create a video of pictures from a recent school event. My suggestion was to try Sharalike. Sharalike is available to use in the web browser on your laptop and is also available as an iOS app and as an Android app.

Sharalike is a service that will let you select a set of pictures on your phone or computer then add background music. Once you've selected pictures and selected music Sharalike does the rest of the work for you. Sharalike handles all of the work of adding transitions, pan and zoom effects, and lighting adjustments. You can choose from several slideshow themes. Each theme uses slightly different transitions and frames around your images. Sharalike does include a small selection of free instrumental music that you can use in your slideshow or you can import music from outside of the service.

Watch my video to learn how easy it is to create a video with Sharalike.

Capsure - Share Collections of Images With Audio Notes

Capsure is a photo sharing service that lets you create private and public collections of photographs. Lots of other services do the same thing. What makes Capsure a little bit different is that you can add audio notes to your collections.

To add audio notes to image collections in Capsure you have to use either the free Android app or the free iPhone app. Within the app you can tap on any of the pictures that you add to a collection to launch the option to record an audio message. Then anyone who views the collection within the Capsure app can hear your audio message when they view the images.

Applications for Education
At this time of year there are lots of opportunities for taking pictures at special school events like field trips, community service projects, and graduation events. Capsure could provide a nice way for parents to capture those events and share them with family. Teachers could also use Capsure for capturing images and sounds of events to share with parents in a private Capsure collection.
