A New Version of Easy Accents for Google Docs

Easy Accents is a Google Docs and Google Slides add-on that I've been using and recommending for years. This morning I went to use the add-on in Google Docs and noticed that there was a little message informing users to install a new version of Easy Accents. The new version works the same way as the old one. According the message from the developer, the reason for the change was a project hosting migration.

Easy Accents for Google Docs and Google Slides provides users with a virtual keyboard that makes it easy to write letters with accent marks in their documents and slides. Rather than having to remember a set of keyboard combinations to create accent marks, you can just pick from a list on a virtual keyboard within Docs or Slides. Easy Accents supports twenty-six languages and offers math symbols. Watch the following video to see how easy it is to use Easy Accents. 

Easy Accents for Google Slides

For the last couple of years I have recommended the Easy Accents Add-on for Google Docs. It's a free Add-on that gives you access to a virtual keyboard to use to write non-English characters in your Google Documents. Recently, the Easy Accents Add-on became available in a version for Google Slides.

Easy Accents for Google Slides is easy to use. Install the Add-on from the Add-ons menu in Google Slides. Once installed you can launch it on any slide. Type as you normally would until you need to add an accent mark that isn't easy to create on your keyboard. Then just insert the letter and accent mark that you need from the Easy Accents keyboard. After inserting the letter and accent mark you can go back to typing on your physical keyboard.  Easy Accents for Google Slides currently supports twenty-four languages.

Applications for Education
Easy Accents is a good tool for students who need to make presentations in world languages class. The Easy Accents virtual keyboard makes it quick and easy to insert accents and then get right back to creating the presentation.

This Google Docs Add-on Makes It Easy to Type Accents

Knowing the right keyboard shortcuts to type the accents and characters is one of the challenges that students face when learning and trying to type in a new language. If you're looking for a virtual keyboard that will work outside of Google Documents, check out Type It. Type It is a free online program for typing accent marks and other special characters that are often required for languages other than English. Type It supports twenty-one languages and currency symbols. You can insert accents and characters by selecting them from the menu provided by Type It or by using their suggested keyboard shortcuts.
